A domain name is your site address. Everyone should own at least one.
At 24-7 Webs, we have always believed that our customers should own their own domain names, not us. That’s why we don’t include them in any packages. In very rare circumstances we will register them for clients who may not have a credit card or PayPal account. They pay us by cheque or by Interac, payment methods that are not available through most domain registrars.
We recommend our partners over at NicFair domains for registration. They’re reliable and inexpensive. Here’s the link to get your domain registered. NOTE: You are switching to another website with its own privacy policies.
When you register your domain name, try to get one that describes what you do. The best one would be your company name. It’s always wise to get the .com version if you can and if you are in Canada get the .ca version for sure. There are lots of other extensions available but those two would be our choice. That doesn’t mean you need a website for each, you can just point one to the other. The domain name reflects your branding and may influence your search engine positioning, so it’s important to choose wisely.
After you get your own domain name, we offer lots of choices in hosting plans for that domain. Blog only plans, do-it-yourself websites based on the widely used WordPress platform, and traditional hosting plans with lots of options and functions. Owning your own domain name permits you to choose any hosting company. We hope you choose us.
